Second Crop Success for Potter and Marion (8/25/08)

Accelerated Genetics is excited for the second
crop on both 014HO03597 Keystone Potter and 014HO03831 Veazland
Marion-ET. With results from the August 2008 Dairy Sire Summary Marion
and Potter are expected to continue among farm favorites.
Potter now has nearly 7000 daughters in production and continues to be the
complete package. He was bred by Keystone Farm in Easton, Penn., his
dam is an Excellent Ked Juror with over 225,000 milk lifetime. The
grandam is a Very Good Southwind with a top record of 39,160 milk and the
third dam is an Excellent-92 4E Tesk daughter. Keystone Farm is
respected for breeding outstanding type cows that are bred for longevity and
Potter’s cow family is no different.
Gregg Topp, Accelerated
Genetics Sire Analyst, says, "Potter is a perfect blend of Manfred and
Juror and he was fortunate enough to get the best traits from Manfred
(production, strength, correct feet and legs, calving ease and positive
health traits) and from his Juror dam (longevity, low somatic cell score,
dairyness and beautiful udders)."
Potter brings
outstanding udders to his daughters with +2.40 fore udder attachment,
+1.90 rear udder height, +1.92 rear udder width, +1.29 udder cleft and +1.36
udder depth. Krista Kauer-Luedtke, Accelerated Genetics Herd Analyst,
adds, "Potter possesses a uniform siring pattern and had earned the
^Second Crop Success^ title. His daughters stand comfortably,
their hocks are placed directly beneath their centrally placed thurls and
the cows show good mobility."

Marion is an Addison son with
a maternal line that spells MILK! His dam is a Very Good-85 Formation,
next dam is Very Good-85 Celsius with the third and forth dam both scoring
Very Good. According to Dave Erf, Sire Analyst with Accelerated
Genetics, "He is VERY consistent in the udder, as much as he is on stature
and body size."
Marion has added 550 daughters this
run on production and 51 on type. Not only does Marion improve udders
(+1.92 fore udder attachment, +3.56 rear udder height, +4.98 rear udder
width and +2.14 udder cleft) but he also puts milk in those udders, he is
+2679 milk (#5 in the breed), +61 protein and +67 fat - still being a bred
leader. He also moved higher on type now +2.14 PTAT, +1.87 UDC and
+1.22 FLC. "Marion sires high producing cows with size, width, depth
and capacity," said Dr. Ole Meland, Vice President of
Genetics.
