NEW! Essential Solutions: Direct Fed Microbial for Organic Cattle

Essential SolutionsAccelerated Genetics is pleased to announce a new product line called Essential Solutions. This product line will feature various products for organic fed cattle. The first product that is being released is a Direct Fed Microbial (DFM).

Essential Solutions DFM is a combination of ruminant specific microorganisms that promotes proper rumen micro flora function and growth for a more stable and effective digestive tract. DFMs are very effective, and with an improved rumen environment it can lead to higher production, allows for better feed efficiency, and reduces the risk of pathogenic microbes becoming established in the digestive system to improve overall animal health. In addition, stable digestive tracts are better equipped to absorb required nutrients needed for crucial biological functions such as reproduction...READ MORE!

Genetic Visions

Through Genetic Visions, Accelerated Genetics' research subsidiary, extensive bovine DNA storage from its years of research, provided critical DNA samples for the foundation studies of the USDA's Bovine Genome Selection research, thus further adding to the accuracy of the new genomic evaluations.

The Genomics Revolution Is Upon Us

Genetic progress just got faster with the release of Genomic Evaluations during the recent Dairy Sire Summary. Prior to 1935 there was no national program for evaluating dairy cattle breeding and no real genetic progress was made. Over the past 74 years various programs and/or traits have been introduced, each increasing the rate of genetic progress in differing amounts and improving the dairy cow.

The recent employment of genomic evaluations is projected to have one of the largest impacts on genetic gain for our industry, ultimately assisting dairy producers in selecting the best genetics for their herd...READ MORE!

Accelerated Genetics hosted the 2009 Young Producer Winter Get-Away Event January 31-February 1 in Wisconsin Dells, WI at the Kalahari Resort. This event drew in over 200 producers including their families from around the membership area to enjoy a weekend away from the farm.

This 'cool' weekend get-away was designed for producers and herdspeople–individuals, couples and families. Besides 'Chilling Out' during the weekend adults attended sessions on Business Planning and Farm Transitions by Gary Sipiorski and got updated on Wisconsin's Coop Care program. Youth were able to check out the Kalahari’s NEW Indoor Theme Park, got involved in fun indoor activities and participated in a hands-on Home Safety session. There was also plenty of time for everyone to network and enjoy the waterpark.

Closing out the Winter Get-Away this year was a real treat for the entire family as Rebecca Long Chaney shared an inspirational message. It was a great way to get rid of the winter blahs, get off the farm to spend time enjoying life, and stay warm inside with fellow producers.
